Elastic Instructions

Congratulations! You are now nearing the end of your treatment. To help make your smile perfect, we need you to wear elastics for the final stages.  If you wear them as instructed, you should soon find we are ready to take your brace off, so please wear them, they are a very important part of your treatment. If you don’t wear them, your treatment will take longer.

• Put your elastics on every day. Every night, throw the old ones away and put on new ones.

• When you are provided with your elastics you will have been advised to wear them in one of the following ways:
  1. All the time, day and night, except when you’re cleaning.
  2. Evenings and night, 6pm until you get up in the morning.
  3. Just in bed at night.
  4. If you are unsure, please contact the practice.
  
  
• If one of your elastics breaks, put on another on straight away, so carry spares with you.
• If you are running out of elastics, telephone the receptionist, tell her the colour of the packet, and we will send you some in the post.
  
• In the unlikely event of you swallowing one, don’t worry, it won’t do you any harm.
  
• If your elastics cause you a problem, or you can’t wear them for any reason, contact the practice immediately.
