Oral Hygiene
Make sure you brush after every meal, including lunch time.
Brush all areas of the teeth and gums, including your back teeth. If your gums bleed, you need to brush that area more, but not harder. You will need to use a small brush to clean underneath the wires and between the brackets of your brace, including your back teeth.
Many people find an electric or sonic toothbrush helpful for cleaning braces, as they enable a more thorough clean, especially in difficult to reach areas.
There may be wires and springs attached to your brace, these
will need to be gently brushed to remove all food debris.
If food is allowed to collect around your brace it will cause permanent damage to your teeth. This can only be repaired by having fillings.
Fluoride Mouthwash (available at reception)
You will need to use a fluoride mouthwash every day.
It is best used at a different time to tooth brushing, for example, when you get home from work.
