Problems
Please read on for specific advice for different problems and emergencies.
Breakages
Check your brace every day. If anything is loose, missing or broken, ring the practice straight away. Do not wait for your next appointment as breakages add time to your treatment.
Cover is provided for emergencies Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm. Severe emergencies which cannot wait until the next working day can sometimes be dealt with by your own dentist’s emergency out of hours service. This is at the discretion of your own dentist and they are under no obligation to provide this service for you.
Ulcers
You may find wax (available at reception) helpful, especially in the early stages, while your cheeks and lips get used to the brace.
Break off a small amount, soften it with your fingers, and push it onto the part of your brace that is rubbing.
