Separator Instructions
You have just had separators placed between some of your teeth. They may feel a little strange, a bit like food stuck between your teeth. We are using them because the contact points of your teeth are too tight, so we need to push them apart a tiny amount so that we can fit your brace.
Try not to pick at them, as we need them to stay in place until your next appointment.
Avoid sticky food, such as toffee.
Clean your teeth as normal, just paying a little extra attention to the area where your separators are.
Your teeth may ache to begin with, but this will wear off within a few days.
If you lose any of your separators, and it is more than 2 days before your next appointment, please let the receptionist know.
In the unlikely event of you swallowing the separators, don’t worry; they won’t do you any harm.
